The 2021 Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS) assessment has revealed promising signs for the future of education in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. This international study, which focused on the reading literacy of fourth-grade students, has shown that learners in Sharjah overall have performed well.
His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, praised the efforts of the multi-sectoral UNESCO Regional Office in the Arab Countries and their continuous initiatives to support children in the Arab world, stressing that Sharjah always seeks to enhance cooperation in this field, and will continue to support these efforts by applying standards, hosting conferences, and establishing centres for children.
His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, issued Emiri Decree No. 10 of 2023, regarding the attachment of the Early Childhood Department (ECD) and government nurseries in the Emirate of Sharjah.
In cooperation with Sharjah Private Education Authority, Sharjah Education Academy organized a special celebration on the occasion of UAE 51ST National Day, at the Academy’s headquarters in the University City of Sharjah.

Here in the Emirate of Sharjah, we are fortunate enough to have the organization Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) who leads all the private schools in this effort.
