My name is Dr. Jeanine Romano, and I am the Executive Director here at Sharjah Education Academy, or as we like to say SEA (pronounced See -Ahh). SEA was established in 2020 by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, where we started by offering professional development programs for teachers and leaders in Sharjah and all over the world. In 2021 we moved into our new location and in 2022 we received our licensure from the UAE Commission Academic Accreditation (CAA) and began to offer a Postgraduate Diploma in Education.   

Here at Sharjah Education Academy our vision is to Lead, Innovate, and Enable Education Excellence in a Diverse Learning Community.  Not only is this vision on all our emails it is embedded into our hearts.  

This community is not just made of students and teachers, but also the leadership, the parents, the entire community. So if you are reading this, YOU are part of this diverse learning community and you are the reason why we created this blog!

You see, we want to have a place where all the members of our community can have a place to learn more about what is going on in education not just in Sharjah but all over the world. 

While the overall goal of the academy is to enable educators to improve their skills to the highest levels in line with best practices and research, advance the educational system, and successfully manage changes to the education system we also recognize the importance for SEA to play a role in everyone who makes up diverse learning community. We want this blog to be a place where not only teachers and students can learn more about what it means to have 21st Century skills and knowledge, but we also want this to be a place where parents and the general public can find their answers.  

Each week we will post blogs from leading experts in the field of education where we will share and explain more about topics like Artificial Intelligence, social and emotional learning, school improvement expectations, math literacy, game theory, educational technology… the list is endless but the best part is that all of these concepts will be explained in simple terms regardless of your educational background.  

Sharjah Education Academy is located in the University City in the Emirate of Sharjah. When you come to our campus or any part of University City it is obvious the people who walk these grounds are here to learn and to educate. The purpose of SEA Blog is to bring that presence to our online community. I hope you will not only learn more here but you will enjoy what you read and find it useful.
