This course stands out by increasing participants' knowledge and understanding of successful leadership. Participants will develop essential leadership skills and enhance their performance as educational leaders. The specialized content and expert guidance ensure that participants are well-prepared to lead effectively and make a significant impact in their educational communities.
The purpose of this course is to enable leaders to improve their leadership of the quality of learning and teaching, as well as the overall development of their schools. Participants will develop critical engagement with key leadership theories, concepts, and challenges. The course focuses on fostering effective and reflective leadership practices. By the end of the course, leaders will be equipped with the skills and knowledge to drive school improvement and promote excellence in education through informed and strategic leadership.
(1) Understand key leadership theories and ideas, from inside and outside education, and apply these to thinking about their own practice.
(2) Draw on evidence from research and practice to develop their knowledge with an understanding of what is known about successful leadership.
(3) Relate these to their own leadership context in planning actions.
(4) Undertake practice-based tasks enabling self-evaluation of their leadership in action.
(5) Develop their reflective practice skills to help them evaluate and improve their own leadership practice.
(6) Learn collaboratively, supported by an experienced colleague(s), to share insights and develop knowledge and skills.
This course provides educators with the tools to actively construct and apply leadership knowledge. It emphasizes experiential learning, encouraging candidates to reflect on their own practices and challenge their assumptions. The course aims to enhance understanding of effective leadership, ultimately improving both personal leadership skills and the performance of their schools. This unique course combines theoretical insights with practical application, fostering dynamic and impactful leadership development.
3 hours per week instruction; 3 hours per week mentoring/reading; participants also expected to complete activities in their workplace and develop a portfolio of evidence, practice and reflection, totalling to 3600 words, to be presented to Cambridge for the certificate.
Required to be a practicing educational leader (or aspiring leader) within a school; evidence of practice is expected.
