Dr. Salma Waly, awarded as an outstanding Arab American under the age of 40 in 2022, is an innovative educator dedicated to harnessing education’s transformative potential to build communities. Throughout her career, Dr. Waly has worked in various educational domains, including higher education teaching and research, school leadership, and designing and evaluating tailored programs across continents. With extensive experience working in diverse settings, including the United States, Egypt, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Japan, Indonesia, China, and South America, Dr. Waly’s leadership is evident in orchestrating effective teamwork, meticulous project management, and impactful communication strategies. She has held senior leadership roles, including one in an EdTech startup, where she actively participated in strategy and decision-making processes, contributing to shaping the organization’s direction. Dr. Waly has authored multiple book chapters and academic articles in top peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Waly founded Universal Narratives LLC, an educational consulting company based in New York State, specializing in online teaching and learning. Simultaneously, she hosts the Universal Narratives Podcast, which cultivates a global platform to unite professionals in championing social justice and equity in education. She is also the author of a children’s book series titled ‘Maryam the New Yorker’, reflecting her global experiences and international upbringing.
